Ahh…rest at last, for a moment, anyway
Finally, I am able to get off the frenetic treadmill I have been on for the past two weeks. Whew. It has been quite a ride.
It started with my daughter being 6 days overdue with baby #2. On Tues. two weeks ago, she decided she wanted to be induced. I traveled to her house from mine (about a 40 min. drive) and picked up her daughter, my little granddaughter, and took her so mommy could have the new baby. I took her with me while I went to two granite countertop places to look at granite. She was good as gold. She slept in the car, ate fries from McDonald’s and walked through the giant granite warehouses without a fuss. In the afternoon, Mom called and said that the Dr. would not be inducing her that day, so I could bring her daughter home. So I swung by on my way south to my house and dropped her off. They were going to try for the inducement the next day, so would I pick up Rhianna again the next day. Of course, what else does a grandma do? I went back the next day and picked her up and took her back to my house.
I got a text message about noon that Aubree, my daughter had received an epidural and was settled in and comfy, just waiting for the big moment. At 2:30 I got a call from my SIL that the baby was in distress and that they were going to do a C-section. Apparently, the baby’s heartrate dropped 50% with each contraction. We waited with baited breath for two hours before we got the text that baby girl # 2 had arrived and was doing fine. Mom too. When we finally talked to Mom and Dad, we found out that the placenta was getting old and had started to detach which caused the distress. It also probably contributed to the baby’s low birth weight. She only weighed 6 lbs 12 oz and she was 6 days overdue. Aubree didn’t want any visitors that night, except me and Rhianna. After going to the hospital and visiting, we didn’t get home until around 10. Not good hours for a 20 month old toddler.
The next day we went again and hung out at the hospital so Mom wouldn’t be lonely and then came home and went later with Grandpa and uncles. Again, Rhianna didn’t get to bed until 10:30.
Hung out at the hospital again the next day, but left Rhianna in the care of her aunts and Mom until Daddy came and took her home. Aubree stayed at the hospital until Sat. afternoon and then went home and holed up with Bryce (Daddy) and Rhianna for the holiday weekend.
On Tues. I began my duties as Grandma in charge. My Sis-in-law came down and helped me clean and organize the kitchen. That was a big deal as there was a lot of clutter. Bryce was most pleased when he came home, but more pleased that he didn’t come home to an emotionally distraught new mother who was upset that she hadn’t gotten anything done.
I spent the week at Aubree’s but left Friday afternoon to head up to South Jordan to help with my daughter Kellee’s pre-wedding family dinner. That was a bit of a comedy of errors. It was orignally planned to be held at the local ward chapel, but Mitzi (the groom’s mother) was not able to schedule it, so she scheduled another chapel. The night of the dinner, when I arrived at the chapel to help, no one was there. I went to Mitzi’s house and found that she had not gotten the key to the building yet. We waited at her house and did some food prep until she came back and told us that the man she was supposed to get the keys from was not home, so we were not able to get in. So, big change of plans, we moved everything to her sister’s house around the corner. This involved a lot of cell phone calls to all the people who were traveling up for the dinner. We started late, but had a nice dinner. Since the reception was scheduled to be held in Debbie’s backyard anyway, the tables were already set up. It got downright cool as the evening progressed and the California relatives were complaining of the cold by evening’s end.
Sat. we were up and out by 9 am to head up to Salt Lake City for the wedding. The bride, Kellee, had spent the night at a hotel by the Temple with two of her sisters and her two bridesmaids. We didn’t want her to be alone on the night before her wedding. The were just across the street from the Temple, but they still managed to be 25 minutes late to the Temple. We were supposed to be there at 10:25 and she arrived at 10:50. She said she kept asking her sisters and bridesmaids what time it was and they would answer “don’t worry, we’ve got plenty of time.” Finally, Kellee managed to actually see a clock and it was 10:30. They hustled after that. I think Jared (the groom) was getting a little nervous that she had gotten cold feet.
She finally arrived and they took her dress to take down to the Bride’s room while they took care of paper work and registered the witnesses, Ray (her dad) and Daniel, (the groom’s brother). I went with Kellee and Jared until they split them up. Kellee and I went into the locker room and then the brides room where Kellee put on her Temple dress and etc. (Church members will know what she wore). Then they reunited Jared and Kellee and sent me up to the waiting chapel to be with all the others waiting for the sealing. We visited a while in the Chapel and then they called us up to the sealing room. We all went in and got seated and within a few minutes, Jared and Kellee were brought in. They were seated, and then Papa (grandpa) who was to do their sealing came in. The door was closed and the sealing began. Papa did a great job, making us both laugh and ponder. Jared and Kellee knelt at the alter, and said their vows. Then they stepped away and exchanged rings and kisses and it was over. We all filed by to give them hugs and congratulations. I stayed to go with Kellee and help her with her wedding dress for pictures outside.
The picture taking session took forever! It was hot and the little ones tired out pretty quickly. Avonlea is only 10 days old, so this was quite an outing for her. Rhianna didn’t get a decent nap, so she was pretty cranky. Especially when it came to pictures; she was pretty much uncooperative for all the pix we wanted her in. I think we managed to get about 3 good ones.
There were 3 photographers, so you think we would have gotten everything done pretty quickly, but NO. Each photographer had their own ideas on what they wanted to take pictures of. Meghan was the pickiest. We didn’t finish until 2:30 and the reception was starting at 6. I still had to go help with setting up, doing flowers and getting the food. I decided to leave before they were completely done with pix so I could get back down to SoJo for the set up. I went back in the Temple and got my things and then walked back out and across the street to the Conference center to go to the underground parking. My feet were killing me because I don’t do heels well so I couldn’t walk very fast. I finally got on the elevator and was joined by Crystal, Kellee’s new sis-in-law. While we were going down, I got a call from Kellee asking if I had her key to her locker in the Temple. Dang it, I did. Crystal volunteered to run it back to her. Bless the girl. I don’t know if I could have made the trek back.
The reception is a whole other blog, which I will do sometime in the future.

Starting again…
Okay, time to get this blog started. The “House under Construction” blog is done. House is done, construction is finished, time to move on. If you want to read all about it, you can go to walkerswobble.wordpress.com. But this blog is about MOI! (with maybe a little about the house thrown in from time to time)
Some musings: if exercise is supposed to be so good for you and make you feel great, why do my feet and back hurt after every exercise session? And it doesn’t seem to do anything towards weight loss, so why am I doing it?
Is any one as sick of seeing Barack Obama’s face plastered all over everything as I am? Granted, I did not vote for him. Yes, it is wonderful that we have finally a person of color as President, BUT– he’s a man, not a King, or a GOD. All this fuss, I think it’s like Rush is calling it : “The Immaculation of Barack Obama”. I just wonder how long it’s going to be before the blush is off the rose and people start seeing him like I do: inexperienced, somewhat naive about how the government in DC works, socialist, and overconfident in his abilities. I would love him to prove me wrong on all counts, but that’s a big wish.
Why does it seem to take me so long to do things and to get things done?

Brand new blog
I have another wordpress blogsite, but it is all about selling our house, building a house and related items. Not really about moi, so I have decide to start a blog for just me (and any visitors who would like to stop by) I hope I can make it interesting enough for people to want to stop by and sit a spell.
My daughter has been blogging on this site for over a year and got me started. She just posted a blog entitled 100 Truths. It was very interesting and fun to read her 100 things and I decided that might be a way to start this new blog. It will probably take me awhile to come up with the 100 things, so check back over the next week or two to see it.
In case anyone is wondering how I came up with the title for my little blog, it’s because I am a handspinner, (yeah, that’s right, spinning wool on a spinning wheel.) I have fantasized that if I could ever do it (and I am no business person), I would like to open a fiber store and sell all things for spinning and knitting. The name of my store would be “Between Ewe and Me”. Pretty cute, don’t ya think. Since I probably will never have such a store, rather than waste such a catchy name, I decided to use it for this blog.
